OBJECTIVE:

The main objective of the Teens4CAP National WSD 2021 is to create awareness on the importance of preserving soil health for the good of human beings, all living beings and our planet.

This event is celebrated every year on 5th December, which was chosen because it corresponds with the official birthday of the late H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej, King of Thailand, who was one of the main proponents of this initiative. The theme for this year’s World Soil Day is “Halt soil salinization, boost soil productivity”. It is a flagship event for UCSI Schools this year, in which we will be targeting 1000+ student participation across Malaysia.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

In conjunction with this year's World Soil Day, Teens4CAP World Soil Day National Competition is jointly organised by Teens4CAP and UCSI Schools specifically for secondary school students and students receiving alternative education in Malaysia between the ages of 13 to 19 years old. CAP stands for Climate Action for Peace. This year, the competition is opened to all formal and non-formal education and learning centres.

World Soil Day is celebrated every year on 5th December and the theme for this year is "Halt soil salinization, boost soil productivity". The main objective of the 2021 competition is to provide an opportunity for the students to showcase their creativity in soil painting or video making as a way to create awareness on the importance of preserving soil health for the good of human beings, all living beings and our planet.

This competition was first initiated by The Blue Ribbon - Teens4CAP with the support of UCSI Schools and UCSI Group SDGs Office in December 2020. It was hosted virtually by Potato Productions, Singapore. This year, this award is also supported by the Regional center of Expertise Greater Kuala Lumpur (RCE GKL) which emphasizes SDG 4 Quality and Inclusive Education, SDG 13 Climate Action, SDG 16 Peace Justice and Strong Institution. RCE GKL champions in advocating UN SDG's theme, "Leave No One Behind".
